About Cameron:
Cameron Watson has been heralded by the Los Angeles Times as “one of our finest contemporary directors.” His extensive and varied body of work garnered him the Distinguished Achievement in Directing Award from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. A multiple award-winning theatre director and filmmaker, Cameron has carved a unique career that crosses over many genres and formats.
Cameron created, wrote and directed the Emmy Award-winning comedy series BREAK A HIP. Christina Pickles won a Primetime Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Comedy for her work in the series. Cameron wrote and directed the Miramax feature film OUR VERY OWN, starring Allison Janney, Jason Ritter, Cheryl Hines, Autumn Reeser, Beth Grant and Keith Carradine. Ms. Janney received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her work in the film.
A prolific and much sought after theatre director, Cameron has achieved widespread critical praise, with the Wall Street Journal citing his work as “the best in the country.” He is known for his much-lauded and box office hits at Antaeus Theatre Company, Rogue Machine Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, Ensemble Theatre Company, Colony Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and The Road Theatre. Known as an “actor’s director,” Cameron has shepherded five actors to coveted Ovation Award wins in Los Angeles, a record unmatched by any other director in Southern California.
Cameron is an in-demand private acting coach, working with acclaimed actors on film and television projects, including Academy Award winners Allison Janney and Octavia Spencer. In addition, Cameron owns and teaches at the exclusive Cameron Watson Acting Studio in Hollywood. He specializes in advanced scene study and acceptance is by referral only.
